Although he hasn’t been here in a while (not since he bribed a certain someone to help him take photos with visiting the chocobos), Togusa knows the way to the Downs, specifically back to the stables where the police chocobos are, instead of the racing birds. He’s starting to get used to the sounds of ‘kweh’s instead of horse whinnies and snorts. The look he gives them is still a little uneasy, though, it would be worse to their four-legged counterparts.
“Baudin?” Togusa calls out when he can’t immediately find the officer.
"Over here!" Frederick calls out when he hears his name. He's standing in front of the stall that holds his chocobo, Buttercup. Normally, Frederick would spend his time grooming her, brushing her mane, but ever since he's received the app and realized what she used to be, well... he's been at a bit at a lost.
How does one brush feathers...
Either way, Frederick is calling it a day when Togusa makes his way towards him.
Togusa lights up, and he raises a hand in a wave as he walks over. "Pretty nice," he has to admit. But he's looking a little more at the bird than Frederick, at first.
"When this whole thing started, anybody trying to say Retrospec wasn't so bad would get met with the objection 'tell that to the horses.' But the joke kind of faded away." He glances at Frederick. "How's she been doing? Other than the obvious, has she changed a lot?"
"Hm, I can see how that joke would fade away at times." But then Frederick pauses, looking at his chocobo as though he's still trying to see the horse that was originally there. "Remarkably, no. She is still very much the same."
Then he pauses for a moment, and continues, "Though, her ways of showing affection have changed. Before, she would nuzzle, now she--" As though, on cue, the chocobo opens her beak and attempts to place Frederick's head within it.
Togusa bursts into laughter when Buttercup tries to show Frederick her love in a new way. Okay. They're adorable. He shakes his head in disbelief. "Maybe she's experiencing things the same way we are. I wonder if she remembers being a horse?" That's really Togusa's big question, that no one can answer yet.
"What do you think of them? Now that you've had some time to get to know the differences?" He came here for a different reason, but while they're on the birds, Togusa would like Frederick's opinion.
Frederick just frowns at the laugh, but he just accepts it. He waits for Buttercup to get her fill of trying to fit Frederick's head within her beak. She stops and pulls herself back into the stable, and Frederick sighs, trying to fix his hair so it is at least somewhat presentable. "That would be remarkable, if so. It's a shame that we cannot ask them and receive an answer that we can understand."
Frederick pauses again. He turns his head to look at Buttercup, trying to get his thoughts back in order.
"I try not to let my thoughts on horses color my thoughts on chocobo. On their own, they are remarkable creatures."
He turns back to Togusa and offers him a sheepish smile, "However, I find myself prefering horses more."

"That," he finishes flatly.
